Overview

Project overview

Primary Ilm creates Islamic educational worksheets and resources for children aged 4 to 11, used by parents, schools, maktabs and home-schoolers.

I designed and built the platform that turns that content into a membership business. Free registration gives access to sample resources, paid membership unlocks the full library, and the team can keep adding new material themselves.

The challenge and the solution

The challenge

Primary Ilm had a large and growing body of worksheets but no way to monetise them. They also needed a way to control who could download what.

The team also needed to publish new resources regularly without relying on a developer each time.

The solution

I built a membership platform with multiple subscription tiers, integrated payments and a protected resource library organised by topic.

Visitors can register for free to download sample resources, then upgrade to a paid membership for the full library. An admin workflow lets the team upload and organise new resources themselves.

Key features

What it does

Explained in terms of what it does for the organisation and its users. The technology is noted underneath where relevant.
  • Subscription tiers

Members choose a plan, with each tier offering a different level of access.

    MemberPress

  • Secure online payments

Members subscribe and pay online, and their access updates automatically.

    Stripe / PayPal

  • Protected resource library

Downloads organised by topic, including the Five Pillars, Surahs & Duas, Prophets, Hadith, Arabic letters, Qaida and Tajweed.

  • Free registration route

Visitors register for free resources, giving a natural path to paid membership.

  • Self-managed content

The team uploads and manages new resources from the admin area.

  • Shop, courses and blog

Further routes for selling products and sharing content alongside membership.

Next phase

In development

New full-stack platform

I'm currently building a new full-stack platform for Primary Ilm. This case study will be updated with membership, subscriptions, corporate memberships, e-commerce, admin and migration details once it launches.

Technology

Built with

  • WordPress
  • MemberPress
  • Stripe
  • PayPal
  • Elementor

I choose the platform to suit each organisation: WordPress or Shopify when the team wants to manage everything themselves, and custom applications when the workflow needs something built specifically for it.

Results

The outcome

  • Primary Ilm can sell access to its content through recurring subscriptions, with a resource library the team manages themselves.
